Job summary

San Bernardino County's Land Use Services Department is seeking Code Enforcement Officers III to join a dynamic team dedicated to outstanding service, innovation, and teamwork. The selected candidate will serve as a lead worker while performing a wide range of complex code enforcement work, including housing, land use, public nuisances, vehicle, and fire hazard ordinance enforcement.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a Code Enforcement Officer in a public sector agency, including issuing citations and investigating and interpreting code/ordinance violation.
• Experience Substitution: One (1) year of experience interpreting, explaining, and enforcing policies and regulations for a public sector agency may substitute for a maximum of one (1) year of Code Enforcement Officer experience.
• Certification: Must possess and maintain PC832 certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker performing a wide range of complex code enforcement work in field and office settings.
• Conduct investigations, property surveys, and engage with owners regarding compliance with permits and codes.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and testify in civil and criminal proceedings.
