Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape the Observability Platform, enabling billions of logs, metrics, and traces across public clouds and datacenters.

You will design, scale, and operate high-throughput telemetry pipelines and collaborate with SRE and Platform teams to improve reliability and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate has deep distributed systems experience and leadership across Go, Python, Java, and OpenTelemetry.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry, including OTLP and instrumentation patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks, and alerts.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
