Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology seeks a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services. You will implement Go, Python, and Java backend systems and drive OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with SRE, Cloud, CI/CD, and Infrastructure teams to shape platform strategy, improve developer experience, and ensure secure, cost-efficient observability at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years in observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, conventions, instrumentation).
• 3+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 3+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• 2+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 2+ years IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 2+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize, etc.
• 2+ years with Grafana OSS or similar observability backends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate core observability platform services.
• Support and lead OpenTelemetry adoption across the enterprise.
• Design, architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secrets management.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and cross-team collaboration.
