Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Principal Architect to own observability and hybrid cloud strategy within the Enterprise Architecture organization. The role develops reference architectures, telemetry standards, and instrumentation patterns across on‑prem OpenShift/KVM and cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP).

You will implement OTel pipelines with Grafana stack, Datadog, Splunk, and Dynatrace, and guide FinOps with cost visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years in infrastructure or cloud architecture or SRE.
• 7+ years in observability or cloud infrastructure in large enterprise.
• Proven experience with two of Azure/AWS/GCP.
• 5+ years Kubernetes in production and OpenTelemetry frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise observability reference architecture across cloud and on‑prem.
• Drive OpenTelemetry‑first instrumentation and multi‑tenant telemetry pipelines.
• Build and operate telemetry pipelines with Grafana Mimir, Loki, Tempo; design retention & capacity.
• Define SLOs/SLIs and alerting; partner with incident management (ServiceNow ITOM, xMatters).
• Lead hybrid‑cloud reference architectures and workload identity federation guidance.
• Align FinOps with telemetry, and explore AI/ML value in observability.
