Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape the Observability Platform, building and operating systems that collect billions of logs, metrics and traces across multiple public clouds and datacenters.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with SRE and Platform groups, and drive reliability standards, SLOs, and incident reviews while delivering self-service observability features for developers across CVS Health.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years observability with SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerts, and incident management.
• 5+ years building production backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry.
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms and public clouds.
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize, etc.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or similar backends.
• 3+ years IaC tools (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and related patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability features for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks, and alerting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive post-incident reviews.
• Automate workflows and improve platform tooling and CI/CD.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secret management.
• Produce technical documentation and cross-team guidance.
• Gather requirements and influence roadmap with principal engineers.
