Job summary

Defense Logistics Agency Fort Belvoir, Virginia is seeking an entry-level Child and Youth Services assistant to provide supervised childcare and developmental activities for children from 6 weeks to 18 years. You will implement planned routines, assist with meals, and support safety during daily activities and field trips.

Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Entry Level requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Skill Level requires additional DoW training or coursework; six semester hours in education/child development acceptable.
• Target Level requires 12 months experience in group programs with children/youth and additional credentials or coursework in child development.

Responsibilities

• Provides developmental care and instruction for children and youth from 6 weeks to 18 years.
• Supervises and ensures safety of children during routines, activities, field trips and events.
• Implements planned activities using curriculum and materials for group and individual activities.
• Assists with snacks or meals as needed.
• Identifies and responds to emergencies and health needs.
