Job summary

Obsolete Site is seeking a team leader for their Child and Youth Services programs in Arlington, Virginia. This role is responsible for the developmental care and instruction of children aged 6 weeks to 18 years, ensuring a suitable educational environment.

Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a team leader responsible for ensuring program staff provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years within Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs.
  • Ensure implementation of a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of children and youth.
  • Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques; provide written instructions, reference materials, and supplies.
  • Develop, plan and implement age‑appropriate educational lesson plans, schedules and activities based on observed needs and interests of individual children and youth.
  • Ensure staff follow health and safety standards for diapering, toileting, hand washing, cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting surfaces and materials, food service, safe sleep practices, and caring for ill children and youth.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, to collaborate with the CYS team, prepare reports and plans, and document observations.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience working in group programs with children/youth and demonstrated knowledge of theories and principles of child/youth development, with completion of DoW standardized training course or holding a Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School‑Age (MSA) credential.
  • OR a minimum of 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth, demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development, and an associate’s degree or 60 semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary, or secondary education; child and youth development; or related field with a major of at least 24 semester hours in a related content area. A bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field is also acceptable.
  • Must meet all employment conditions: direct deposit and social security card presented; E‑Verify check; background check; immunization against communicable diseases; pre‑employment and subsequent physical exams; ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.; visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children; report all suspected child abuse/neglect.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications and complete DoW and Service training requirements, including orientation, initial and annual ongoing training.
