Job summary

Georgia Department of Human Services (DFCS) in McDonough, Georgia, seeks a Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor to lead a team within the Division of Family & Children Services. The role focuses on supervising staff, coordinating protective services, and developing case plans for vulnerable children and families.

The position offers telework opportunities depending upon the position and requires coordination with the state’s child welfare system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of job-related case management experience; or one (1) year of experience at lower level Child Welfare Svcs Case Mgr 3

Responsibilities

• Supervise and plan work of assigned staff
• Serve as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
• Access and record client and community resource information
• Collect evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepare necessary reports according to rules and regulations, state and federal laws
• Compile records and prepare reports; performs follow-up to determine the status of client's case
• Conduct home-visit evaluations for information gathering to be used in assessments
• Coordinate and monitor children in out-of-home placements and in-home interventions
• Coordinate and monitor services, including comprehensive tracking of client's activities
• Develop case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet needs of individual custodial client
• Identify placement resources for children within the foster care system
• Initiate the legal process for guardianship, protective services, placement and/or adoption
• Maintain required documentation and completes reports
• Make immediate assessments regarding safety of clients and respond according to established protocol and policies
• Perform initial investigations of protective services referrals to determine the appropriateness of protective services intervention
• Work in collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes
• Review, approve/disapprove, or render decisions on casework being performed by staff
