Job summary

Petco is seeking a Lead Certified Veterinary Technician in Illinois to provide exceptional veterinary care to hospital patients and outstanding customer service to pet parents. The role emphasizes leadership in the hospital, accurate record-keeping, and teamwork with veterinarians and paraprofessional staff.

The position requires a CVT in Illinois (preferred) and relevant experience, with responsibilities including assisting with surgeries, managing treatments, and guiding new staff.

Qualifications

• CVT Illinois strongly preferred.
• At least 1 year of veterinary practice experience recommended.
• Must have leadership capabilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate, professional, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam rooms, obtain weights and vital signs, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Monitor patient status, process samples, dispense medications as directed, and maintain records.
• Coordinate appointments, respond to calls, provide client education, and support the hospital team.
