Job summary

Countryside Veterinary Center is seeking a Head Veterinary Technician to lead the Treatment Team. This full-time, on-site role blends hands-on veterinary medicine with supervision, training, scheduling, and department development.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of technician experience, Illinois CVT certification, and proven leadership abilities. You will coach staff, ensure smooth operations, and maintain high standards of patient care in a busy hospital.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of veterinary technician experience.
• Illinois CVT certification is required.
• Experience in training, mentoring, leading, or supervising others.
• Strong technical and clinical skills with hands-on approach.
• Organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Treatment Assistants.
• Oversee daily workflow, organization, and staffing of the Treatment Department.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop team members.
• Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, feedback, and support.
• Create and maintain department SOPs, protocols, and training programs.
• Help team build skills and reach professional goals.
• Collaborate with doctors and medical team to provide patient care.
• Remain hands-on with examinations, procedures, anesthesia, and lab work.
• Serve as a clinical and technical resource for the treatment team.
• Coordinate scheduling and department coverage.
