Lowe’s Companies, Inc. is hiring for a front-end associate in Mechanicsville, VA. The role emphasizes delivering SMART customer service, helping customers locate and load merchandise, and guiding them through projects in-store. You will also process transactions and support cashier operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; equivalent years of experience accepted
• Less than 1 year experience using a computer
• Less than 1 year experience using common retail technology (smartphones, tablets)
• 1 year retail cashier experience preferred, may be required by role

Responsibilities

• Provide SMART customer service at all times per Lowe's policies and programs
• Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise
• Answer questions knowledgeably and promptly, guiding customers through projects in-store
• Communicate stock, special order merchandise, features, benefits, and warranty information to customers
• Coach and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using the cash register per guidelines
• Handle monetary transactions accurately and give correct change
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise
• Assist in line vesting and open additional registers to ensure adequate coverage
• Prepare register area at start and end of shift; check registers and scanners
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages
• Enter and submit customer orders, print order tickets, verify receipts, sign loading tickets
• Lookup product information and price-matching
• Record store use items on list; perform daily cash reconciliation
• Monitor cash in drawer and cash recycler within limits
• Monitor store entrances/exits; respond to alarms as needed
• Detect shoplifting signs and report to management/Asset Protection
• Maintain housekeeping standards and safe work environment
• Adhere to safety rules and operate store equipment as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
