Job summary

The Salvation Army Salt Lake City Corps is seeking a Lead Caseworker to supervise the casework team, assist clients with utilities, rent, furniture, and emergency aid, and ensure accurate reporting.

This full-time, non-exempt position offers benefits, a 40-hour week, and opportunities to contribute to a mission‑driven team. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, the ability to work independently in a team, and preferably bilingual Spanish.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; work experience commensurate with duties.
• Commitment to The Salvation Army's mission.
• Strong communication and people skills, with patience and compassion.
• Ability to communicate in person, over the phone, and via email.
• History of effective case management services.
• Ability to work independently within a team.
• Respect for cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
• Strong stress-coping and boundary-setting abilities.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn job portals.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with staff, clients, interns, volunteers and others about programs and requirements; provide referrals.
• Set priorities and complete assistance (utilities, emergency aid, etc.) for clients promptly.
• Work with Social Service team to maximize program effectiveness.
• Train new caseworkers and interns on tasks, data input, and recordkeeping.
• Keep departmental resource lists up-to-date.
• Maintain timely documentation and records.
• Attend staff meetings as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
