This position is contingent upon contract award
Oversees the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, conforming to local building codes. Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine the type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and the dimensions of the structure or fixture to be fabricated. Selects specified types of lumber or other materials. Prepares layout using rules, framing squares, and calipers. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials with pencils, chalk, and marking gauges. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes. Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue. Verifies trueness of structures with plumb bobs and levels. Erects frameworks for structures and lays sub-flooring. Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions. Other duties as assigned.
