Job summary

Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Manager, Cargo Loading & Hazmat to ensure safe and compliant freighter operations across stations, including hazmat oversight. You will coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and Amazon stakeholders to drive performance and regulatory compliance.

The role requires travel to stations, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead continuous improvement in ground handling and load planning while ensuring 24/7 operation readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in aviation, operations, logistics, safety, business, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive airline, cargo, or ground operations experience, including hazmat compliance.
• Working knowledge of ground operations, vendor management, operational risk, regulatory compliance, and corrective-action processes.
• Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration to resolve operational issues and drive performance improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive updates and frontline guidance.
• Ability to travel and participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Hazardous Materials Program to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
• Monitor and improve operational performance for freighter stations (ground handling, catering, fueling, safety, security).
• Conduct delay research and trend analysis with factual reporting and adjudication.
• Oversee vendor relationships and performance; travel to stations for oversight of policy and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate safety event reviews and corrective actions with stakeholders.
• Coordinate station startups and project management; assist in vendor selection with procurement.
• Improve ground handling processes with stakeholders; drive change and Sun Country product focus.
• Oversee load planning for freighter operations and regulatory compliance support.
• Develop manuals, policies, and procedures with internal/external teams.
• Escalation management for operational issues and cross-team communication.
• Serve as liaison between Training, Safety, QA, Security, and OCC teams.
