Job summary

Sun Country Airlines seeks a Manager, Cargo Loading & Hazmat to oversee safe, compliant Amazon freighter operations, coordinating among internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to drive performance and station readiness.

The role also manages the freighter HazMat program and serves as the SME for hazardous materials in freighter operations, with periodic travel to stations and a 24/7 mindset to support a global operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aviation, operations, logistics, safety, business, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive airline, cargo, or ground operations experience with hazardous materials compliance.
• Working knowledge of ground operations, vendor management, regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally to resolve operational issues and drive performance improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide concise executive updates and clear frontline guidance.
• Ability to travel and participate in an on-call rotation that supports a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Hazardous Materials Program to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
• Operational performance monitoring and improvement for all freighter stations including ground handling, catering, fueling, safety, and security.
• Operational delay research and trend analysis with factual reporting and delay adjudication.
• Vendor relationship management; travel to stations to oversee policy, procedures, and federal regs.
• Safety event review and corrective action coordination with external and internal stakeholders.
• New station startup coordination and project management; assist in selecting ancillary vendors.
• Ground handling process improvement and stakeholder coordination; meet with ground handlers to influence change.
• Load planning process oversight for freighter operations.
• Regulatory and procedural compliance support.
• Manual, policy, and procedure development in coordination with stakeholders.
• Escalation management for operational issues.
• Liaison between Training, Safety, QA, Security, and OCC teams.
• Review and follow-up of station audit findings and corrective actions.
