Job summary

Safe Harbor Home Care in California is seeking an experienced Lead Caregiver to mentor the caregiving team and serve as a field resource for high-quality in-home care. You will guide daily care, ensure client safety, and support continuity of care across the organization.

Responsibilities include supervising fellow caregivers, performing ADL assistance, and maintaining accurate documentation while upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• California Home Care Aide (HCA) registration required prior to client assignment.
• Current TB clearance and valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• 2 years of professional caregiving experience.
• Ability to pass required background check.
• Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges, dementia, hospice care or chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Provide personal care and hygiene assistance.
• Prepare meals for clients.
• Bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Run errands and accompany doctor appointments.
• Provide medication reminders.
• Assist with walking, mobility and transfers.
• Keep client environment clean and comfortable; help with laundry.
• Offer companionship and conversation.
• Communicate changes to the care team promptly.
• Complete caregiving documentation accurately and on time.
• Fill in for urgent or last-minute shifts as needed.
• Lead caregiver orientations and training.
• Support onboarding activities for new staff.
• Serve as a field resource and mentor for caregivers.
• Support quality assurance initiatives.
• Document incidents and participate in follow-up actions.
• Act as liaison between caregivers and office staff.

What You'll Do

Lead Caregivers perform all responsibilities of a Caregiver while also serving as a resource, mentor, and field leader for the caregiving team. Responsibilities may include:

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Personal care and hygiene
• Food preparation
• Bathing, grooming and dressing
• Errands and doctor appointments
• Medication Reminders
• Assist with walking, mobility and transfers
• Keep client's environment comfortable and tidy, assist with laundry
• Provide companionship and conversation
• Notice the little things and communicate changes to your care team
• Complete required caregiving documentation accurately and on time
• Fill urgent or last-minute shifts when necessary
• Conduct in-home caregiver orientations
• Provide hands-on caregiver training and support
• Assist with onboarding activities
• Serve as a field resource and subject matter expert for caregivers
• Support quality assurance initiatives
• Document incidents and participate in follow‑up activities
• Act as a liaison between caregivers and office staff
• Support continuity of care and client satisfaction

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid I-9 employment eligibility documentation
• California Home Care Aide (HCA) registration prior to client assignment
• Current TB clearance
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and client confidentiality
• Ability to pass required background check
• 2 years of professional caregiving experience
• Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges, dementia, chronic conditions, or hospice care
• Reliable attendance and strong communication skills
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem‑solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA Certification
• HHA Certification
• Bilingual (Spanish/English or Tagalog/English)
