Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks an experienced supervisor to manage inmate food service operations, training staff, ensuring food safety, and maintaining daily cafeteria duties in a secure facility.

You will oversee hiring decisions, coordinate with inmate committees, schedule weekly menus, and ensure compliance with health, fire, and OSHA inspections; ServSafe certification is required or must be obtained within six months. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• ServSafe certification required or to be attained within six months.
• Must complete basic supervisory training within eighteen months.
• ServSafe manager certification required or to be obtained within six months.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, evaluate, and terminate inmate food service employees.
• Train cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff in all duties.
• Supervise personnel in daily duties.
• Maintain internal security of the cafeteria as an officer.
• Work with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Ensure accurate preparation and delivery of weekly food orders.
• Prepare cook's work sheets per SCDC master menu and maintain 5-year records.
• Meet health, fire & OSHA inspections.
• Ensure maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
