Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal CAD Designer to lead advanced CAD drafting for satellites and aerospace hardware. You will create and manage detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation, ensure GD&T conformance, and drive data integrity across PDM systems.

Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. The role emphasizes strong SolidWorks expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to govern complex design data while mentoring junior staff

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting/design preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive CAD design and drafting experience in manufacturing/aerospace.
• Strong SolidWorks proficiency and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with drafting standards and engineering documentation best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced CAD drafting and design support throughout the product lifecycle using SolidWorks.
• Generate and maintain 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and GD&T requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams on design development.
• Manage CAD files and BOMs; control drawing release and document configuration.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to CAD process improvements.
