Job summary

V.L.S. Systems, Inc. seeks a Lead C#/.NET Engineer to modernize a mission-critical benefits system on AWS. You will own data-access with EF Core against PostgreSQL, refactor COBOL-derived code, and set engineering standards for a high-availability batch environment.

The role requires senior-level C#/.NET expertise, strong EF Core and PostgreSQL skills, and experience with REST APIs, testing, and CI/CD in a hybrid on-site/off-site setting in Hamilton, NJ.

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of professional C#/.NET software engineering with senior/lead responsibilities.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET platform including async programming and modern language features.
• Expert-level EF Core: modeling, migrations, queries, transactions and concurrency.
• Strong PostgreSQL/relational DB skills; knowledge of other DBs acceptable (Oracle/SQL Server).
• Experience with REST APIs (ASP.NET Core) and clean architecture.

Responsibilities

• Refactor converted COBOL-derived code into idiomatic .NET with strong OO design.
• Own EF Core data-access against PostgreSQL; define models, DbContext, mappings.
• Lead architectural decisions, coding standards, and refactoring guidelines.
• Mentor developers; perform code reviews; ensure quality and security gates.
• Deliver iteratively within Scrum; maintain business logic parity with legacy system.
