Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Bridge & Structures office in Tumwater, WA seeks a Lead Inspector (Bridge Engineer 4 in-training). The role conducts NBIS-compliant bridge inspections statewide, leading teams and coordinating field operations to ensure safety of the state bridge network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Experience with bridge inspection and NBIS procedures is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-service NBIS-compliant bridge inspections for FHWA/WSDOT.
• Lead inspection teams and coordinate inspection logistics.
• Prepare inspection reports and develop planning tools.
