Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation seeks a Bridge Engineer 5 to assure statewide bridge inspection quality and support safety and longevity of Washington’s bridges. You'll review documentation, guide inspectors, and enforce NBIS/NTIS and WSDOT standards while traveling frequently and sometimes working in a hybrid setup.

You will lead site visits, provide technical oversight, and mentor inspectors, applying advanced engineering judgment and planning inspections with a strong emphasis

Qualifications

• PE license in Civil or Structural engineering (WA) or six months to obtain.
• Experience interpreting bridge load ratings and NBIS/NTIS.
• Completion of FHWA bridge inspection training or within six months.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA reviews of bridge inspection docs, field verification, and supporting engineering information.
• Lead bridge site visits and engineering reviews of inspection reports and load ratings.
• Make engineering determinations on inspection requirements and report compliance.
• Serve as a technical resource on NBIS, NTIS, and WSDOT standards.
• Plan and direct in-service bridge inspections with engineering judgment.
