Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks an Engineer-in-Training for Bridge Inspection to join our Bridges and Structures Practice.

The role is based in Seattle or Olympia, WA, Portland or Salem, OR, or Boise, ID, involving field inspections, load-rating work, and collaboration with seasoned engineers. You will perform inspections on bridges and tunnels, assist in load-rating calculations, and help prepare reports and project documents while developing technical skills in a mentored environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or completing degree in Spring 2027.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in bridge inspection, load rating, or design.
• Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform condition inspections of existing bridges and tunnels.
• Generate and edit bridge and tunnel inspection reports.
• Organize information for project documents.
• Assist with the development of bridge load rating calculations.
• Assist with bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
• Perform structural analyses and develop calculations per AASHTO guidelines.
• Assist with development of engineering drawing details.
• Assist with bridge preservation reports.
• Develop engineering quantity and cost estimates.
• Assist with project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals during construction.
