Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks an Engineer-in-Training: Bridge Inspection to join our Bridges and Structures Practice in Seattle, WA (also Olympia, WA; Portland, OR; Salem, OR; Boise, ID). You will perform condition inspections on bridges and tunnels, assist with load ratings, and contribute to rehabilitation projects.

This entry-level role offers mentorship, exposure to industry tools, and a path to licensure, with a salary range of $75,000 to $95,000 per year and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or completing degree in Spring 2027.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in bridge inspection, load rating, or design.
• Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform condition inspections of existing bridges and tunnels.
• Generate and edit bridge and tunnel inspection reports.
• Organize information for use in project documents.
• Assist with the development of bridge load rating calculations.
• Assist with bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
• Perform structural analyses and develop calculations using the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and other codes.
• Assist with the development of engineering drawing details.
• Assist with bridge preservation projects by creating concept reports.
• Develop engineering quantity and cost estimates.
• Assist with the development of project specifications.
• Review of contractor submittals during construction.
