Job summary

Weston & Sampson Engineers Inc. seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead bridge design and project delivery for transportation projects in Connecticut and New England. Preferred office is Rocky Hill, CT, with consideration for Foxborough, MA; Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Manchester, NH; or Albany, NY.

You will manage DOT and local government bridge projects, oversee design teams, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to business growth through technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (Master's preferred).
• PE license in CT or eligibility to obtain one.
• 12–20 years of progressive structural/bridge design experience with CTDOT projects.
• Experience in steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete bridge design, inspection, and load rating.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
• Proficiency in design software: AASHTOWare BrR/D, Midas Civil, STAAD, LEAP, MicroStation, OpenBridge, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
• NBIS certification a plus.
• Experience with CTDOT standards and manuals.
• Proven ability to lead design efforts, prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge design projects from concept through construction.
• Oversee technical design teams, ensuring compliance with AASHTO, DOT, and local standards.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage client relationships and drive project delivery, quality, and performance.
• Review and assist with structural calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Lead mentoring and development of junior engineers.
• Support proposal development and business growth through technical leadership.
