Job summary

Weston & Sampson seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead design and project delivery for transportation projects in Connecticut and New England. The preferred office location is Rocky Hill, CT, with consideration for Foxborough, MA; Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Manchester, NH; or Albany, NY offices.

You will manage DOT/local government bridge projects—replacements, rehabilitation, preservation, and load ratings—while guiding a team of engineers and designers to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.
• PE in Connecticut (or ability to become registered) often required or preferred.
• 12–20 years of progressive bridge engineering design and project leadership experience, CTDOT exposure.
• Experience in steel, concrete, prestressed concrete bridge design, inspection, and load rating.
• Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
• Proficiency in design/analysis software: AASHTOWare BrR/D, Midas, STAAD, LEAP, MicroStation, OpenBridge, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
• NBIS certification is a plus; CTDOT standards familiarity.
• Ability to lead design efforts, prepare plans/specs/cost estimates, and manage budgets and teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead bridge design projects from concept through construction.
• Oversee technical design teams ensuring compliance with AASHTO, DOT, and local standards.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage client relationships and project delivery.
• Review structural calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Lead mentoring and development of junior engineers.
• Support proposal development and business growth through technical leadership.
