Job summary

John Wood Community College seeks an Afternoon Lead Bookstore Clerk to act as the on-site customer service expert in the JWCC Bookstore. You will handle transactions, assist with student financial aid tasks, and support daily operations alongside the morning lead.

The role emphasizes professionalism, strong communication, and teamwork on JWCC’s Quincy campus. Hours are Monday–Thursday 12:00–5:00pm and Friday 8:00am–12:00pm; flexibility for occasional extended hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years of retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Manager of Auxiliary Operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in-store, over the phone, via email, and online store portal with professionalism.
• Process customer transactions at POS registers during business hours.
• Lead and support student clerks to ensure procedures are followed and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain store cleanliness, restock merchandise, and manage daily tasks.
• Assist with inventory, reports, and Pepsi orders; rotate stock as required.
• Close the store at end of shift and complete daily financial reporting.
