Job summary

Holyoke Community College is seeking a part-time Campus Store Customer Service Associate to assist with daily operations of the campus store. You will greet customers, help locate textbooks and materials, answer questions, and process purchases at the POS system.

The role is student-facing and requires availability during peak periods and the academic calendar. Prior retail or cashiering experience is preferred, with a focus on accuracy and excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior customer service, retail, cashiering, or related experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
• Basic computer and point-of-sale skills, or ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and financial information appropriately.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome students, faculty, staff, and visitors and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Assist students with locating textbooks, course materials, school supplies, apparel, technology, and other store merchandise.
• Answer customer questions and provide accurate information regarding products, pricing, availability, returns, exchanges, and store policies.
• Assist students with textbook and course-material questions and direct to appropriate resources when additional assistance is needed.
• Operate the point-of-sale system, process purchases, returns, exchanges, and other transactions accurately.
• Handle cash, credit/debit transactions, in accordance with store procedures.
• Help maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming sales floor.
• Stock, organize, and replenish merchandise as needed.
• Assist with receiving, pricing, labeling, displaying, and merchandising products.
• Support textbook and course-material operations during peak periods, including the beginning and end of academic terms.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
