Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Lab Supervisor - Blood Donor Services to lead the donor testing laboratory operations, ensuring accurate processing of donor specimens and blood products, and provide mentorship to staff while maintaining quality and regulatory standards.

You will partner with physicians and clinical teams, supervise staffing and training, monitor turnaround times, and drive quality improvement initiatives to support a safe, reliable blood supply for patients and communities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited institution.
• MLS/MT certification through ASCP or equivalent, or eligible to obtain.
• 3–5 years clinical lab experience including blood bank/blood donor services.
• Supervisory/lead experience preferred.
• Familiarity with FDA, AABB, CLIA, CAP requirements.
• Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with LIS and blood bank information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Blood Donor Services laboratory with efficient workflow and staffing.
• Provide leadership, coaching, scheduling, training, and performance management for staff.
• Ensure accurate donor testing, component processing, labeling, storage, and documentation.
• Monitor turnaround times, productivity, and workflow for high-quality services.
• Review quality control, QA, proficiency testing, and corrective actions per regulatory standards.
• Ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance; participate in inspections and audits.
• Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with leadership, physicians, and teams to support safe blood collection and availability.
• Monitor supplies and inventories to ensure uninterrupted operations.
