Job summary

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Blood Bank) to lead day‑to‑day operations of the blood bank and donor center, ensure availability of blood products, and support physicians and leadership with high‑quality patient care.

You will supervise staff, coordinate testing and processing, uphold safety and regulatory standards, and identify opportunities to improve workflow and service delivery across transfusion services.

Qualifications

• Experience in blood banking, transfusion services, or a clinical laboratory environment.
• Leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to guide and develop teams.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of the blood bank and donor center.
• Supervise and support technical and non‑technical staff responsible for transfusion services.
• Coordinate activities related to blood product collection, processing, storage, testing, and distribution.
• Ensure blood products are available to support patient treatment needs.
• Perform, monitor, and review laboratory testing procedures, including complex testing activities.
• Maintain high standards for quality, accuracy, and patient safety.
• Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
• Assist with staff training, development, scheduling, and performance management.
• Collaborate with physicians, laboratory leaders, and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Provide administrative and operational support to department leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflow efficiency, and service delivery.
• Help maintain a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
