Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to provide advanced maintenance and service across biomedical and imaging equipment. This role includes preventive maintenance, safety checks, installations, calibration, and regulatory compliance, supporting a broad range of clinical technologies.

The candidate will train staff and present on new trends while collaborating with multiple departments.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
High School Diploma/GED along with 5 years of progressive experience in performing direct component-level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field will be considered in lieu of degree.
2 years progressive experience in performing direct component level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.
Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.
Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.
Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.
Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
Must be able to visit multiple business locations.

Responsibilities

Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
Provides safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment.
Identifies and obtains supplies and other materials required to service, maintain, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.
Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature such as manufacturer’s literature, references standards, specifications, and other documents necessary for supporting the biomedical program.
Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
Makes effective presentations to small groups of peers to ensure staff remains up to date on new trends.
Provides in-service and training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety.
