Job summary

Tenaska, a leading energy company based in Omaha, NE, seeks a Manager Project Engineering (Battery Energy Storage) to lead technical support for development, design and construction of large-scale BESS projects, with potential work on solar and wind.

The role oversees site assessments, conceptual engineering, cost estimates, permitting, scheduling, and supplier bid processes; you will collaborate with management, sales, development, environment and real estate teams, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years in power sector or project engineering roles.
• Experience with battery, solar, or wind power projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with analytical mindset.
• Proactive in solving challenging problems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering design of battery energy storage projects, including facility configuration and electrical systems.
• Identify project sites and assess technical feasibility.
• Support technical and commercial evaluation of battery energy storage technologies.
• Define scope and schedule of development tasks; oversee external consultants.
• Prepare technical risk assessments and cost estimates (CAPEX/O&M).
• Provide engineering support for procurement and construction.
