Job summary

Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos in Williamsburg, MI is seeking a Lead Banquet Server to assist in setup and teardown of banquets, ensuring decor and presentation meet standards and coordinating with event hosts. You’ll oversee floor staff and ensure timely, friendly service.

The role requires working closely with chefs and event coordinators, addressing questions before or during service, and processing the post-event billing with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be willing to learn and grow in business.
• SERV Safe certification required or become certified within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the staging of equipment, including china, glassware, flatware, and serving stations.
• Assign tasks to banquet servers and direct on-floor staff during events
• Train new staff in a consistent fashion
• Problem-solving skills: resolving employee conflicts, upset customers, and wrong orders quickly and effectively
• Coordinate with event coordinators/hosts; communicate with chefs for food replenishment and service flow

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Banquet Server will assist in the set up and tear down of banquet. They will ensure that the tables are decorated correctly, the food is presented well, and service goes off without a hitch. The Lead Banquet Server oversee floor staff and make sure that they are in uniform and serving the clients in a speedy and friendly manner. They are the liaison to the chefs and cooking staff in the back, letting them know what food needs to be replenished. The Lead Banquet Server works directly with the event coordinators/hosts and are in charge of addressing and fixing any questions or concerns that come up before or during service. After service, banquet captains often give the event coordinator or host the bill of services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the staging of equipment, including China, glassware, flatware, and serving stations.
• Assign tasks to banquet servers and direct on-floor staff during events
• Train new staff in a consistent fashion
• Problem-Solving Skills: Dealing with employee conflict, upset customers and wrong orders is part of the lead banquet server’s job. Being able to come up with a solution quickly is a needed skill.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be willing to learn and grow in business.
• Must be knowledgeable with Michigan Liquor Control Commission Laws. SERV Safe certified or become certified within 6 months of hire required.
