Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Lead Backend Developer for a 100% remote role across the United States. You will lead backend platform development focusing on high-throughput systems and shared services that other teams rely on to deliver products.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of backend or platform engineering experience, deep distributed-systems expertise, and strong communication and mentoring skills.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven track record building and operating internal platforms or shared services.
• Strong hands-on expertise designing distributed systems with strong consistency, availability, latency and failure mode.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one major backend language (Java, Go, Scala, Rust or modern C++).
• Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging, streaming (Kafka, Pulsar, NATS).
• Knowledge of relational, key-value, document, and search data stores.
• Experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives with stakeholder management and technical decision-making.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to author design docs and present trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering culture through code/design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services used by multiple teams.
• Develop backend platform capabilities: routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching, asynchronous jobs, durable event processing.
• Lead multi-quarter platform initiatives across teams with clear stakeholder collaboration.
• Maintain high throughput with predictable latency and minimize operational toil.
