Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and support automation projects. You will create basic to moderately complex I&C systems, develop P&IDs, and help with testing and startup of control systems, under supervision.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, with travel up to 40%. Strong PLC and HMI experience, plus proficiency in 3D/4D design practices, are essential.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls, and related system designs using 3D/4D design practices.
• Review component drawings, contractor clarifications, and assist with testing oversight.
• Develop P&IDs, control architectures, specifications, and control descriptions for programming.
• Lead and mentor junior staff; review their work as needed.
• Assist in proposal sections and support marketing and new business activities for automation strategy.
• Perform other duties as required.
