Job summary

SpaceX Bastrop, TX seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer for the Starlink assembly line. Lead multi-disciplinary projects spanning machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring to enable high-rate manufacturing of Starlink products.

The role focuses on designing, implementing, testing, and handing off automation projects, writing structured PLC code, and ensuring safety compliance with ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA while delivering user-friendly HMIs for operators.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science.
1+ year in automation design/implementation or related electro-mechanical/robotic systems.
Experience with factory automation projects and high-volume manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and manage automation projects from ideation to hand-off to operations.
Architect, write, and debug PLC code with maintainable, reusable structure.
Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant safety systems for robots, conveyors, and equipment.
Create simple, intuitive HMI screens for complex machines.
Design electrical systems compliant with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A.
Develop schedules and budgets; motivate the team to hit milestones.
