Job summary

227 DSX is seeking a senior instrumentation and controls engineer to lead municipal water and wastewater automation projects in St. Louis.

You will design, specify, and integrate complete automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, DCS, and networking, while guiding a team of engineers and coordinating with project managers and clients. The role requires a strong background in Allen Bradley and Siemens hardware, plus experience with migration strategies and project execution in mission-critical

Qualifications

Four-year engineering degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
5+ years of experience with SIMATIC 505 Hardware and AB ControlLogix PLCs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Ability to work collaboratively across levels of management, engineering, operations, and field personnel.
Experience with control system migration from SIMATIC 505 to modern PLC platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute Allen Bradley PLC-based control system projects for a team of engineers.
Design control system architecture including AB ControlLogix PLCs; familiarity with Siemens SIMATIC 505 hardware.
Troubleshoot legacy SIMATIC 505 hardware and migrate to Rockwell PLC and IFIX/VTScada/Wonderware HMIs.
Design and support secure control system networks.
Train and mentor project engineers throughout project lifecycle.
Interface with clients and management to report status, risks, and resolutions.
