Job summary

Tetra Tech Digital Systems in St. Louis, MO seeks an instrumentation and controls engineer to lead and execute PLC-based automation projects for municipal water and wastewater facilities.

You will develop control strategies, contribute to P&IDs, specify components, and support commissioning. The role requires strong knowledge of Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens SIMATIC 505, and HMI/SCADA systems, with emphasis on secure networking and client communication; travel will be required.

Qualifications

• Four-year technical degree in engineering from school of engineering and technology or technical institute, or 5 years relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Simatic 505 hardware and AB ControlLogix PLCs.
• Strong communication (written and oral) skills.
• Experience with control system design and project execution.
• Familiarity with Mission Critical Infrastructure and water/wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities

• Work as an instrumentation and controls team member for municipal water and wastewater projects.
• Develop control strategies, provide input to P&IDs, control system specifications, termination diagrams, commissioning plans.
• Design, specify and integrate automation systems including PLC, HMI, DCS, and networking.
• Participate in control panel design and BOM generation, cabling, PLC/HMI programming, and commissioning.
• Perform FAT, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Ensure work compliance with Standards & Procedures.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Technical Engineers.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and guidelines.
• Travel, ranging from two to three-day trips to frequent one-day trips.
