Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a Master Technician in Chapel Hill, NC to diagnose drivability, air conditioning and electrical systems, and to lead a shop team focused on customer care. The role emphasizes mentoring and clear communication with customers about problems and proposed solutions.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of automotive diagnosis and repair experience, 8+ ASE certifications, and a valid driver’s license. Shift flexibility and a commitment to safety are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of automotive diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 8+ ASE certifications preferred (A1–A8).
• Section 609 Certification required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Pre-employment background check successful.
• Able to work days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications including brakes, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Perform duties of Technician A/B, Mechanic and General Service Technician as needed.
• Explain diagnoses and repairs to customers and staff in clear terms.
• Continuously learn new automotive technologies through formal training.
• Assist fellow technicians and keep management informed of repair issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized shop and comply with safety rules.
