Job summary

McKinstry in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering and Design team. You will lead electrical design projects, including building distribution, lighting and emergency power systems, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in electrical engineering in built environments, PE license, and strong skills in AutoCAD/Revit, SKM/Electrical analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Professional Engineer registration is required (or ability to obtain).
• 8–10 years of Electrical Engineering in built environment experience.
• Experience in design/construction of commercial and light industrial electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train project engineers on electrical design principles.
• Lead design and implementation of electrical projects (distribution, lighting, emergency power).
• Develop technical standards and ensure alignment with project scope and budgets.
• Coordinate with clients, utility providers, and other disciplines.
• Oversee analyses to support pre-design and proposals.
