Job summary

Speechify, a 100% distributed company, seeks a hands-on Android Team Lead to own core product work and guide the team. You will write code, review code, and own features end to end, coordinating with design and QA. You’ll mentor teammates and push high-quality mobile experiences.

You’ll unblock the team, improve reliability, and drive how we work while shipping robust audio playback features across Android platforms. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-moving, remote environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team.
• Deep expertise Kotlin and Android tech stack.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or long-running tasks.
• Strong testing approach and test coverage.
• Proven ability to lead while staying hands-on.
• Experience collaborating with product/design/engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design to release.
• Maintain reliability metrics for key features.
• Review PRs and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when obstacles occur.
• Drive changes in how the team works.
• Reduce manual release steps and automate checks.
• Plan sprints to focus on uncertain work.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Support early career developers with learning opportunities.
