Speechify is seeking a hands-on Team Lead for Android to own core product work and drive how the team collaborates and delivers. You’ll code, review, and own features end to end while guiding design decisions and release readiness.

You will help improve reliability, review processes, and mentor junior engineers in a fully remote, distributed environment. The role emphasizes strong communication and leadership to accelerate impact across product, design, and engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with hands-on leadership
• Strong Kotlin toolkit including Coroutines, Flow, and Dagger 2
• Experience shipping Android apps with MVVM and Clean Architecture
• Proven ability to own major features end to end and lead teams
• Emphasis on tests, reliability, and maintainable codebases
• Track record of shipping features used by users, not just fast to ship
• Ability to describe team work with AI agents and product design intuition
• Excellent communication skills

Responsabilités

• Own major features end to end from design to release
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback
• Unblock the team when blockers arise
• Ensure design consistency across versions used by the team
• Keep shared components well-tested and maintainable
• Guide team evolution and process improvements
• Reduce manual release steps and automate verification
• Address recurring problems by changing underlying setup
• Participate in cross-functional discussions early and often
• Handle critical issues and provide nightly QA builds
• Mentor junior engineers to grow their skills
