Bank of America is seeking a Cyber Threat Defense Sr AI/ML Engineer to integrate advanced AI into its cyber defense ecosystem. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered threat hunting, anomaly detection, and automated incident response across large-scale telemetry.

The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, focusing on governance, ethical AI use, and collaboration with GIS teams to defend the bank's AI-enabled security stack.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on machine learning engineering experience, including fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying custom models in production.
• Strong command of machine learning fundamentals: training, evaluation, embeddings, and real-world data issues.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn); experience with model evaluation harnesses and experiment tracking.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered apps and agentic AI systems; orchestration and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Experience delivering production systems at scale: data pipelines, MLOps, automation.
• Experience with enterprise cloud AI platforms (Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI) or open-source/self-hosted infra.
• Working understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and AI governance; bias mitigation and explainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered capabilities for threat hunting, anomaly detection, and automated incident response.
• Develop and operationalize custom ML models and LLM-based workflows for cybersecurity use cases.
• Match technique to problem: deterministic automation, classical ML, or generative AI as appropriate.
• Build LLM-based tooling to enhance analyst effectiveness and knowledge retrieval.
• Collaborate with GIS teams to identify AI-driven security improvements and architecture.
• Prototype and evaluate emerging AI technologies for cyber threat detection and response.
• Partner with offensive security to develop AI-enhanced red teaming capabilities.
• Contribute to scalable, governed AI integration across GIS security controls.
