Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer for its Global Information Security (GIS) team to design and deploy AI-driven cyber defense solutions. You will develop ML models, integrate LLM workflows, and drive secure automation across threats, using cloud platforms and on‑prem infrastructure.

The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership and collaboration with security practitioners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on ML engineering experience with production models.
• Strong fundamentals in model training, evaluation, and data issues (imbalance, label noise, drift).
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or scikit-learn.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications and agentic AI systems.
• Experience delivering production systems at scale with data pipelines and MLOps.
• Experience with enterprise cloud AI platforms or equivalent model infra.
• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and AI governance concepts.
• Strong communication skills for executive-level translation of concepts.
• Bachelor's degree or higher; MS/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered capabilities for threat hunting and automated incident response.
• Develop and operationalize custom ML models and LLM-based workflows for cybersecurity use cases.
• Apply deterministic automation, classical ML, or generative AI as appropriate to problems.
• Build LLM-based tooling to enhance analyst effectiveness and knowledge retrieval.
• Partner with GIS teams to identify AI-driven security control improvements.
• Prototype and evaluate emerging AI technologies for cyber threat detection.
• Collaborate with offensive security teams on AI-enhanced red teaming and emulation.
• Contribute to scalable AI architecture and governance across GIS security controls.
• Promote responsible AI use and bias mitigation; engage with model governance stakeholders.
• Advise senior leadership and mentor engineers and analysts on AI initiatives.
