Job summary

Bank of America’s GIS team seeks a Cyber Threat Defense Sr AI/ML Engineer to embed AI into cyber defenses. You will design AI-powered threat hunting, develop custom ML models, and deploy scalable, well-governed AI systems across security controls.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration with security SMEs, and leadership in AI governance and Explainability. Open to experienced contributors in a dynamic security environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on ML engineering with production models.
• Strong fundamentals: weights, loss, precision, recall, calibration, features.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Experience building LLM-powered apps and agentic AI systems.
• Production-scale data pipelines, MLOps, automation experience.
• Cloud AI platforms (Azure, Bedrock, Vertex AI) or open-source alternatives.
• Cybersecurity basics and AI governance concepts.
• Excellent communication; BS degree, MS/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-driven threat hunting and detection.
• Develop custom ML models and LLM workflows for cybersecurity use cases.
• Choose techniques (deterministic, ML, or generative) per problem.
• Create LLM tooling to aid investigators and knowledge retrieval.
• Collaborate with GIS teams to enhance AI-enabled security controls.
• Prototype emerging AI tech for cyber threat detection and response.
• Partner with offensive security for AI-enhanced red team work.
• Contribute to scalable AI integration and governance across GIS.
• Promote ethical AI use and bias mitigation with model governance.
