Job summary

Bain & Company, Inc. is seeking an AI Engineer in Applied Technology & AI to design, build, and ship generative AI systems for enterprise clients.

You will work within Bain’s digital capabilities practice, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to move solutions from prototype to production. This hands-on role emphasizes strong engineering principles, cross-functional collaboration, and growth into technical leadership.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles with hands-on building responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience shipping generative AI features or systems end-to-end, from prototyping through production.
• Clear communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and deployment of end-to-end generative AI systems.
• Build and iterate multi-component AI pipelines (RAG, embedding generation, hybrid retrieval).
• Implement reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Build agentic systems with robust memory, separation of concerns, and tool integration.
• Design and deploy APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployments.
• Support GenAIOps processes for automated testing, latency monitoring, and continual improvement.
• Balance performance, safety, and cost; implement guardrails and HITL workflows.
