Job summary

GameChanger is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to set technical direction for the data platform and hands-on build data systems that power analytics and product initiatives. You will partner with engineering and business teams to anticipate needs, improve scalability, and enable AI-assisted development across the organization.

You will lead cross-team initiatives, drive architecture decisions, and foster self-service analytics while mentoring others and contributing to platform-wide standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building data or backend systems.
• AI-assisted software development expertise.
• Python for data pipelines and production software.
• SQL and cloud data warehousing in Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Experience building software systems or partnering closely with teams.
• Proficient with containers and orchestration, e.g., Airflow.
• Proficient with IaC tools like Terraform.
• Proficient with K8s/Kafka and streaming data pipelines.
• Proficient with cloud services: AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Set multi-quarter technical direction for the data platform with the manager.
• Meet with partners to understand goals and influence adoption.
• Architect and build scalable data platforms for analytic and operational needs.
• Champion AI-assisted self-service analytics and development.
• Improve performance, observability, reliability, and scalability of systems.
• Share knowledge via documentation, reviews, talks, and mentoring.
• Participate in on-call rotation and troubleshoot complex issues across systems.
