Job summary

Gradial, the marketing operations platform, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data in Seattle to own the data platform end-to-end. You will shape the data layer, design Postgres schemas, indexing, pipelines, and build a company-wide warehouse with self-serve analytics.

You will lead architecture for multimodal retrieval and ensure data quality as the product scales. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an experienced data engineer excited to own critical infrastructure at an AI-native

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering with ownership of complex data systems.
• Proven ability to define and build data architectures in fast-growth environments.
• Deep expertise in relational database design, indexing, query patterns, and consistency tradeoffs.
• Experience building production data pipelines, warehouses, and analytical data models.
• Experience building production search systems, including embedding-based or hybrid retrieval.
• Track record shipping reliable production code and making strong architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for Gradial’s data platform across product, engineering and company-wide data needs.
• Own data modeling for production databases, designing schemas and access patterns that scale with the product.
• Lead the evolution of multimodal indexing and search across images, documents and text, prioritizing retrieval quality, performance and reliability.
• Build and own reliable data pipelines across production databases, product events and third-party systems.
• Build the warehouse, governed metrics and self-serve tooling for teams to answer questions with confidence.
• Instrument the customer lifecycle from lead to value, giving teams a clear view of how customers move through Gradial.
• Set data quality, contracts and observability standards as the surface area grows.
• Make pragmatic architecture and build-vs-buy decisions balancing speed, scalability and cost.
