Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd. seeks a Temporary Program Director for the LEAP after-school program at PS224. The role oversees development, implementation and supervision for in-person and virtual activities, serving as liaison to school staff and ensuring documentation and reporting.

Hours are 35 per week, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 10 am to 6 pm, and occasional weekends. The position requires strong leadership, crisis intervention ability, and collaboration with DOE and community

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Child Development or NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential; or School-Age Child Care Credential.
• Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development programs and supervision.
• Must be able to engage in crisis intervention activities.
• Must be available for weekend training requirements.
• Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and supervision for the LEAP after-school program.
• Responsible for program and staff scheduling.
• Supervise assistant program director, group leaders, assistant group leaders, consultants, administrative staff, and volunteers; complete timely performance evaluations.
• Develop and facilitate weekly staff meetings.
• Conduct program outreach and coordinate enrollment and registration for all programs at the afterschool program.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the site.
• Supervise family involvement activities, as well as communication with parents regarding program expectations, child behavior, and health and safety issues.
• Provide daily crisis intervention with participants regarding personal and/or in-school issues that affect success in the program.
• Monitor program budget and oversee implementation of Program Evaluation activities.
• Partner with Good Shepherd programs within the school to maximize comprehensive services provided to students and families; create linkages with DOE staff.
