Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Group Leader for its after-school enrichment and recreational program in New York. The role focuses on supporting staff in delivering engaging activities from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, during the school year.

You will supervise youth, help run sports, arts and crafts, and assist with snacks and cleanup while upholding program rules and safety standards. A 18+ age requirement applies, with strong communication and teamwork expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
• Must be available during the program hours listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events.
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
