Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd is seeking an Assistant Program Director to support the Program Director in developing and managing daily programming for the afterschool program at COMPASS @ PS306 in Brooklyn.

The role demands hands-on leadership, coordination of activities, collaboration with staff, and ensuring safety and youth development standards. It includes 35 hours per week, a 10 am to 6 pm schedule, and a salary range of $50,000–$55,000.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; an Associate degree or higher in Education or Social Work is encouraged.
• Three years’ experience in youth program supervision and/or administration.
• Experience in program development for youth.
• Ability to engage in crisis-intervention activities and lead a range of group activities.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; team player and approachable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Program Director in overseeing the daily operation of all aspects of the program.
• Attend all staff meetings and required professional development activities.
• Assist with the design and implementation of programming and scheduling.
• In the absence of the Program Director, provide overall leadership and administration of program.
• Track and input student records and attendance in program databases as needed.
• Help to create an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility amongst participants, and use the established afterschool model.
• Coordinate and plan program activities and culminating events.
• Schedule and participate in parent involvement activities.
• Network and outreach to community organizations to provide services and information to program participants.
• Conduct outreach for participants to enroll in programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
